The Yonis That Saved Christendom

There are quite a few Virgins out there, but the focus of this series is Our Lady of Guadalupe in Her incarnations, Our Lady of Guadalupe at Extremadura, Spain and Our Lady of Guadalupe at Tepeyac, Mexico City with more emphasis on Her Mexican incarnation, the better known one.

The first one is in the Sedes Sapientiae form, and the second one is (you guessed it) in the form of a Yoni . For those who don't know what a Yoni is, it is an Indian term for parts of the whole female sex organs as spiritual and religious symbol, which has now become a common word in English. The Yoni seems to have become popular object in New Age spiritual circles. The male equivalent is the Lingam, but that doesn't seem to be so popular in the West, probably because the New Agers with an interest are mostly women.

The original one in Extremadura (Spain) is one of those based on the paintings of the Virgin by St Luke. On a side note some of the Sedes Sapientiae forms also have a strong yoni element to them, especially the Habsburg's favourite one at Halle in Belgium, which has a very raw, earthy, primitive power to it.

As it is virtually impossible for more astute observers not to have noticed that many Virgin images are yoni images, it is a wonder why some hard core Puritans haven't come out screaming against the heresy of vulva worship (vulvas with halos, more like) by Christians. Are most Christians yoni worship sympathizers? It isn't exactly a secret as these paintings and artifacts show.

This image here appears to be a photo of the original which doesn't appear to have been subjected to much retouching. Given the tilma is nearly 500 years old, it shows its age although some people claim it hasn't faded much. The robe the virgin is wearing is described as pink, which means the golds, the blues and the other colors were more vibrant when it was new. There are some later reproductions such as the one from the 1700s that display the colours better, including the Virgin's black complexion.

Given the outer part of the image is not convex it appears to be of the area surrounding the labia minora going inward, the pit between the labia majora and the labia minora, where the majora recede inward for the external minora to rise out. Her head forms the tip of the clitoris, the blue wrap on Her head appears to be the folds of the labia minora, etc.

The bright energetic pink colours leave no doubt as to what we are looking at, and the golden rays of energy spreading out of it leave no doubts as to its nature as a receptable as well as a source of energy. The shadow on the right at the bottom half of her cloth is clearly that of the vaginal canal rising into the uterus, and also gives the appearance of the pelvic area of a woman, and the fold of the cloth between it and the darker folds on the left gives the impression of a woman standing with legs together. The fold of the cloth formed by the right leg of the shadow rising to the right from our viewpoint (Her left side) the emulates the curvature of a woman's body of and gives the impression of a pregnancy.

It is not obvious why the left side appears to be in shadow with more folds in the cloth, but it shows what looks like a kneeling figure with a very elongated body rising up into the top half, sans arms, torso and head.

All in all the image looks to be one of the Virgin emerging from the labia minora, thus being The Yoni of the Immaculate Conception.

On looking at its energetic nature, it is clearly the gateway to the inner uterus which is the receptacle and store of the Holy Spirit, the energetic shine of which is radiated by the external vulva. I guess the yoni could be to the Holy Spirit what the cross is to Christ and the Crucifix. Perhaps it is the wife of the Holy Spirit, the female partner of the Holy Spirit, and represents the Holy Spirit itself, the Holy Spirit as a female. Interesting.

One wonders whether the Yoni is an European/West Asian religious symbol having a power of its own independent of Christianity, whether these images include the Virgin to make them recognized and accepted as Christian symbols. For all we know some native believers may view the Yoni as a symbol Mary acquires more power and authority from, rather than one She lends her power and authority to.
